Job Title: Building Maintenance Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Building Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and ensuring the optimal functioning of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural elements. This role requires a proactive approach to preventive maintenance, as well as the ability to diagnose and repair issues as they arise.
Job Summary:
Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components.
Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure all building systems operate efficiently and minimize downtime.
Emergency Response: Respond to emergency maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues promptly to ensure minimal disruption to building operations.
System Monitoring: Monitor building automation systems (BAS) to ensure efficient operation and identify potential issues before they become critical.
Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and building codes. Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance services. Supervise the quality of work performed by external service providers.
Energy Management: Implement energy-saving measures and recommend improvements to enhance building efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and costs incurred. Update building maintenance logs and manuals.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the facilities management team to ensure seamless building operations. Provide guidance and training to junior maintenance staff as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in building maintenance or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in building maintenance or a related role.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance. Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) is a plus.
Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to address maintenance issues efficiently.
Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with team members, contractors, and building occupants.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions.
Certifications: Relevant certifications such as HVAC certification, electrician's license, or plumbing certification are highly desirable.
Working Conditions:
Schedule: Full-time position with regular working hours. Availability for on-call duties and emergency response may be required.
Environment: Work is performed in a variety of settings, including office buildings, industrial facilities, and residential complexes. Some tasks may require working in confined spaces or at heights.
