Reporting to the Senior Manager, Clinical Informatics, the Clinical Terminologist will be a key component of the clinical informatics department, which consists of a group of professionals with diverse backgrounds but all passionate about data interoperability among electronic data sources. You will be responsible for defining data profiling, metadata documentation, data lineage, and data transformation rules in support of key program deliverables.
The Clinical Terminologist creates, implements, and enforces a taxonomy and meta data inventory while meeting data management needs of internal and external clients by leveraging and establishing data model standards and best practices. The Clinical Terminologist is responsible for performing data impact analyses in partnership with project teams, supporting the building of a strategic model including transformation rules and attribute relationships. This individual would also participate in defining, loading, and maintaining Taxonomy Content.

Location: Remote, US
Role qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience with, and mapping across, US standard clinical terminologies, such as LOINC, SNOMED, RxNorm, NDC, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, is required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/work experience in informatics, medical/clinical focus, life sciences, information systems or computer science
- Experience with terminology value set creation and mapping is a strong plus
- Experience with applicable standards specifications and organizations (e.g., C-CDA, FHIR, HL7) and terminology tools (e.g. VSAC) is a strong plus
- Experience working with a terminology platform is a strong plus
- Ability to create, review and modify SQL queries and stored procedures is a plus but not required
- Experience with healthcare information technology or data analytics is a plus but not required
- Flexibility to partner with and negotiate with various personality types at all levels within and outside the organization

What you will be doing:
- Building requirements and maintaining terminology code set data (e.g., RxNorm, NDC, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, SNOMED, LOINC, etc.) on a knowledge management server to produce terminology output files
- Working with clinical informaticians to design and implement new terminology data to support new product use cases
- Working with support teams to address product bugs and enhancements related to terminology data
- Writing and maintaining internal terminologist workflow documentation
- Participating or leading other terminology-related efforts as needed
