Challenge
As a Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE), you will be at the forefront of ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our database infrastructure. This role is critical in maintaining the stability of our systems, optimizing database performance, and contributing to our overall success. You will face the challenge of balancing rapid development cycles with the need for robust and reliable database systems in a high-traffic environment.
What you'll do
- Architect, implement, and maintain database systems to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability.
- Develop and implement monitoring solutions to ensure database performance and reliability. Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Create and manage automated processes for database deployment, backups, and failovers.
- Work closely with developers, Cloud Operations, and IT teams to design and optimize database schemas, queries, and overall system architecture.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot database-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Implement and maintain database security measures to protect sensitive data and comply with industry standards.
- Document database architecture, configurations, procedures, and best practices.
In order to succeed in this position, you will need:
Mandatory skills
- Extensive experience with relational databases (such as PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (such as MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (such as Python, Bash) for automation and tooling.
- Experience with database monitoring tools and performance tuning (such as Prometheus, Grafana).
- Strong knowledge of backup and recovery procedures and tools.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience with AWS cloud and their database services.
Nice to have
- Experience with IaC tools (such as Terraform, Ansible).
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (such as Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with data warehousing solutions (Redshift) and ETL processes.
- Experience with Data Stream (Kinesis, Kafka)
- Familiarity with additional programming languages (such as Python, PHP, etc).
- Relevant certifications in database administration or cloud services.
