Design and Planning:
Develop electrical system designs, specifications, and plans for construction projects, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage systems.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to integrate electrical designs into overall project plans and ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
Perform load calculations, voltage drop analysis, and short circuit calculations to determine electrical requirements and equipment sizing.
Construction Oversight:
Provide technical guidance and oversight during construction activities to ensure electrical systems are installed according to design specifications and industry standards.
Review shop drawings, submittals, and material specifications for compliance with design requirements and project specifications.
Conduct site inspections and quality control checks to monitor progress, identify issues, and verify workmanship.
Project Coordination:
Coordinate with construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors to schedule electrical installations, procure materials, and resolve technical issues.
Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and coordination efforts with other disciplines to ensure integration and alignment of electrical systems with overall project objectives.
Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to project stakeholders and management.
Commissioning and Testing:
Oversee commissioning activities for electrical systems, including functional testing, startup, and performance verification.
Coordinate with commissioning agents, testing agencies, and building owners to ensure proper operation and compliance with project requirements.
Prepare commissioning reports, record test results, and address deficiencies or issues identified during testing.
Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of electrical designs, drawings, specifications, and record drawings.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and permit requirements for electrical installations.
Assist in obtaining necessary permits, approvals, and inspections from regulatory authorities and building officials.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on construction projects.
Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP) and familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) tools.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE) and construction practices.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Experience with commissioning processes and testing procedures for electrical systems is a plus.
$120,000 - $140,000 a year
