ERG is seeking a dynamic and technically strong Embodied Carbon Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be joining a growing team of engineering and science professionals who focus on quality work and fostering collaborative, long-term relationships. ERG has provided science and engineering support to many of its federal clients for more than 20 years.
Job Description:
The ERG Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) team supports government clients to assess the environmental outcomes associated with products and infrastructure systems to identify preferred products, processes, and policies and to create new approaches for sustainability analysis
The Embodied Carbon Specialist position within the LCA team will involve managing project teams of 2 to 5 staff to deliver data-driven projects to clients. The position will focus on embodied carbon analyses for the built environment
Qualifications and Skills:
Passion for and experience in data-driven sustainability analysis
A Master's degree in Environmental Science/Management, Engineering, or a field related to embodied carbon with specific coursework in life cycle assessment or equivalent experience is preferred
4 to 7 years of applied professional experience in embodied carbon analyses
May also consider a Bachelor's degree with sufficient life cycle assessment/embodied carbon experience
Background in environmental science, engineering, economics, policy analysis, or a related technical field
Expertise with environmental product declarations and product category rules for construction materials is a requirement
Demonstrated ability to apply embodied carbon analyses through work experience, preferably environmental consulting
Experience working directly with clients
Experience organizing and leading small teams in a collaborative environment
Familiarity with a wide range of data sources relevant to environmental and policy analysis and the ability to identify and engage experts to conduct research
Capable of identifying key features of complex systems/processes
Well-developed problem-solving, systems thinking, quantitative, and critical thinking skills; intellectual curiosity
Able to formulate solutions to poorly structured problems
Highly motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and in close collaboration with team members
Energized by working as part of a high-functioning team and demonstrating a professional attitude
Strong computer skills relevant to data manipulation and analysis and experience with LCA software (e.g., SimaPro or openLCA), Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with Python is strongly preferred
Skilled written and verbal communicator, including the ability to present complex information that is understandable to a non-technical audience
$90,000 - $120,000 a year
ERG offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits, including health and dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, educational benefits, FSAs, a generous 401k plan, profit sharing, an EAP, 11-20 paid vacation days per year, 10 paid holidays per year, 56 hours or more of sick leave (based on the state you work in) per year (pro-rated for part-time) and more. The salary range for all positions depends on the years and type of experience.
