Job Title: Industrial Hygienist

Job Overview: As an Industrial Hygienist, you will be responsible for evaluating and controlling workplace hazards to protect the health and safety of employees. This includes conducting assessments, implementing control measures, and providing recommendations to minimize exposure to occupational hazards.
Key Responsibilities:
Workplace Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of workplaces to identify potential health hazards, including exposure to chemicals, noise, biological agents, and physical hazards.
Data Collection: Collect and analyze data related to workplace hazards, including air and noise quality, to assess the level of exposure and potential risks.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding workplace safety and health standards.
Recommendations: Provide recommendations for control measures to minimize or eliminate exposure to hazards. This may include engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment.
Training: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on safety practices, hazard recognition, and emergency procedures.
Monitoring Programs: Implement and manage monitoring programs to track exposure levels and assess the effectiveness of control measures over time.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation of workplace assessments, exposure monitoring results, and control measures implemented.
Emergency Response: Develop and coordinate emergency response plans for potential hazardous situations, ensuring the safety of employees.
Collaboration: Collaborate with other safety professionals, engineers, and management to address safety concerns and integrate safety measures into work processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is often preferred.
Knowledge of relevant safety and health regulations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Experience with industrial hygiene monitoring equipment and tools.
$100,000 - $120,000 a year
Work Schedule: 1-2 days on-site at client sites near Arlington VA, otherwise remote
