Summary

Responsibilities

  • Support the AFRL/RG (AFWERX) Technical Operations Branch with cybersecurity and RMF support.
  • Collect and maintain data for system cybersecurity reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with policies/guidelines/procedures/regulations/laws.
  • Identify IT security program implications of new technologies.
  • Prepare and maintain security plans, instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate cybersecurity inspections, tests, and reviews.
  • Track audit findings and ensure appropriate mitigation actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with at least four years of experience, or eight years of directly related experience.
  • Active DoD 8570 IAT II or IAT III certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CCNA-Security).
  • Highly preferred certifications: Google Cloud Security Engineer, Google Workspace Engineer, or Google Cloud Architect.
  • Knowledge of risk management processes and requirements per RMF.

Title: Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)

About this role:

  • Rackner is seeking a Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support the AFRL/RG (AFWERX) Technical Operations Branch.
  • AFWERX is the innovation arm of the Department of the Air Force (DAF) and accelerates agile and affordable capability transitions by teaming innovative technology developers with Airman and Guardian talent.
  • The innovation arm of the Department of the Air Force and powered by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) supports both internal and external (federal and industry partners) users across multiple CONUS locations through client hardware support (NIPR, DREN) and cloud-based (e.g. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) applications.
  • Additionally, the program's Technical Operations Branch provides Risk Management Framework (RMF) and cybersecurity support to the different AFWERX divisions (i.e. AFVentures, Spark, Prime), including Flight Test Program Management (FTPM) support to both manned and unmanned flight tests.

We are looking for experience with:

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA)/Bachelor of Science (BS) and four (4) years of experience, OR eight (8) years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described below.
  • Must have at least one of the following certifications (DoD 8570 IAT II or IAT III certified):
    • CCNA-Security
    • CySA+​
    • GICSP
    • GSEC
    • Security+ CE
    • CND
    • SSCP
    • CASP+ CE
    • CCNP Security
    • CISA
    • CISSP (or Associate)
    • GCED
    • GCIH
    • CCSP
  • Highly preferred to be Google Cloud Security Engineer, Google Workspace Engineer, and/or Google Cloud Architect certified
What will make you successful:
  • Knowledge of risk management processes and requirements per the Risk Management Framework (RMF), to include building, managing, and submitting RMF packages in support of IT platforms, cloud/web-based applications, traditional applications, or embedded IT systems
  • Collect and maintain data needed to meet system cybersecurity reporting
  • Continuously validate the organization against policies/guidelines/procedures/regulations/laws to ensure compliance
  • Identify alternative information security strategies to address organizational security objectives
  • Identify information technology (IT) security program implications of new technologies or technology upgrades
  • Prepare, distribute, and maintain plans, instructions, guidance, and standard operating procedures concerning the security of network system(s) operations
  • Recognize a possible security violation and take appropriate action to report the incident, as required
  • Ensure that cybersecurity inspections, tests, and reviews are coordinated for the network environment
  • Track audit findings and recommendations to ensure appropriate mitigation actions are taken
