Job Overview
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring that aerospace products meet established quality and safety standards. This role involves inspecting, testing, and documenting findings on aerospace components and assemblies. The Quality Control Technician works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to identify and rectify quality issues.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection and Testing
Perform detailed inspections of aerospace parts, assemblies, and materials using precision measuring instruments and equipment.
Conduct functional and environmental tests on aerospace components to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.
Utilize non-destructive testing methods (NDT) such as ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant inspection.
Documentation and Reporting
Accurately document inspection results and test data.
Prepare and maintain detailed records of quality assurance activities, including test reports, inspection checklists, and non-conformance reports.
Report any deviations or non-conformances to the Quality Control Manager and recommend corrective actions.
Process Improvement
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes to address quality issues.
Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and processes.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve inspection methods, tools, and processes.
Compliance and Standards
Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, regulations, and company quality policies.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry standards, including AS9100, ISO 9001, and other relevant quality management systems.
Participate in internal and external audits as required.
Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues.
Communicate effectively with suppliers and customers regarding quality requirements and issues.
Provide training and support to production staff on quality control procedures and standards.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in a technical field or related discipline preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality control, preferably in the aerospace industry.
Certifications: Certification in Quality Control (e.g., CQI, CQT) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certification is highly desirable.
Skills:
Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines).
Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes and materials.
Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management software.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Capability to lift and move heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.
Good manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Working Conditions
