Overview: We are looking for a skilled FinOps (Financial Operations) Specialist to join our team and help manage cloud financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and cloud computing, with experience in cost management, optimization, and reporting. This role involves working closely with engineering, finance, and operations teams to ensure that cloud resources are used efficiently and cost-effectively.

Responsibilities:

Cloud Cost Management: Monitor and analyze cloud spending across multiple platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to identify cost-saving opportunities. Implement strategies to optimize cloud usage and reduce unnecessary expenses.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Work with finance and engineering teams to develop and manage cloud budgets and forecasts. Provide insights into cloud spend trends and recommend adjustments to align with business objectives.

Cost Allocation and Tagging: Ensure that cloud resources are properly tagged and allocated to the correct departments, projects, or business units. Develop and maintain a tagging strategy to enable accurate cost tracking and reporting.

Reporting and Analytics: Generate detailed financial reports and dashboards on cloud spending, usage patterns, and cost trends. Present findings to stakeholders and provide actionable recommendations for cost optimization.

FinOps Best Practices: Implement and promote FinOps best practices within the organization, including cost governance, accountability, and financial transparency in cloud operations.

Vendor Management: Collaborate with cloud service providers to understand pricing models, discounts, and reserved instances. Negotiate contracts and optimize vendor relationships to reduce costs.

Cost Optimization Tools: Utilize and maintain cloud cost management tools (e.g., CloudHealth, Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer) to monitor and optimize cloud expenses. Identify and implement new tools as needed.

Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and operations teams to align cloud resource usage with business needs. Provide guidance on cost-efficient architecture and resource utilization.

Training and Awareness: Educate internal teams on cloud cost management and FinOps principles. Conduct training sessions and workshops to increase awareness and encourage cost-conscious behavior.

Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that cloud financial operations comply with corporate policies, industry regulations, and audit requirements. Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with cloud usage.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., FinOps Certified Practitioner, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner) are a plus.

3+ years of experience in financial operations, cloud cost management, or a related field.

Strong understanding of cloud computing, including infrastructure, services, and pricing models.
