Summary

Responsibilities

  • Lead materials characterization and test programs to certify design materials for Aerospace products.
  • Deliver professional, complete, and timely drawings and report documents for proposals, submittals, and project designs.
  • Analyze material testing data and generate materials models for use in product design.
  • Perform export classifications of materials and associated technical documents.
  • Explain material qualification results to leadership and peers.
  • Conduct independent research to discover materials engineering solutions.
  • Mentor engineers through problem-solving of aerospace materials and processes.
  • Develop and execute design of experiments using computational materials software.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Knowledge in advanced composites.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace and structural analysis.
  • Security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • GovCon experience preferred.
  • Experience leading project teams in developing materials solutions.
  • Depth of knowledge in Aerospace materials, composites, ceramics, and engineering plastics.

Duties

    • Lead materials characterization and test programs to certify design materials for Aerospace products.
    • Deliver professional, complete, and timely drawings and report documents as required for proposals, submittals and project designs.
    • Analyze material testing data and generate materials models for use in product design.
    • Perform export classifications of materials and associated technical documents.
    • Recognize processing history in the material qualification results and explain meaning of the results to upper leadership, peers, and to early career engineers.
    • Perform expert level independent research to discover seemingly impossible materials engineering solutions.
    • Lead and mentor engineers through problem solving of various aerospace materials and processes.
    • Use a data science approach to develop and execute design of experiments using computational materials software (ICME).

Requirements

    • 10+ years of related experience.
    • Have knowledge in advanced composite is required.
    • Strong knowledge with aerospace and structural analysis.
    • Has a Security clearance or clearable for one.
    • GovCon experience is preferred.
    • Demonstrable experience leading project teams in developing materials solutions and/or problem-solving complex materials challenges.
    • Depth of knowledge in Aerospace materials.
    • Depth of knowledge in Aerospace composites, ceramics, and engineering plastics.
