Job Title: Senior Residential Architectural Drafter
Job Summary:
The Senior Residential Architectural Drafter is responsible for creating detailed and accurate architectural drawings and plans for residential projects. This role involves interpreting architectural designs, collaborating with architects and engineers, and ensuring that all drawings comply with industry standards and building codes. The Senior Drafter plays a critical role in the successful execution of residential construction projects by producing high-quality technical drawings and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting and Design:
Produce detailed architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details for residential projects.
Interpret and translate architectural designs and concepts into technical drawings.
Project Collaboration:
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure the accuracy of drawings.
Participate in project meetings to discuss design concepts, changes, and updates.
Code Compliance:
Ensure all drawings comply with local, state, and federal building codes, zoning laws, and regulations.
Stay updated on building codes and standards to ensure compliance in all drafting work.
Quality Control:
Review and revise drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications.
Conduct quality checks and resolve any discrepancies or issues in the drawings.
Technical Documentation:
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, schedules, and material lists.
Ensure all documentation is organized and accessible for project teams.
Mentoring and Leadership:
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior drafters and team members.
Lead drafting teams on larger projects and coordinate the workflow to ensure timely completion.
Software Proficiency:
Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or other architectural drafting tools to create and modify drawings.
Stay updated on the latest drafting software and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Project Coordination:
Coordinate with contractors, builders, and other professionals to ensure drawings are understood and implemented correctly on-site.
Assist in resolving any design or drafting issues that arise during the construction process.
Required Skills:
Technical Proficiency:
Strong proficiency in CAD software, including AutoCAD and Revit.

Demonstrated experience producing detailed and accurate residential architectural drawings.
Certifications:
Relevant certifications, such as those from the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA), can be beneficial.
