Responsibilities:
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and objectives.
Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks software.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and materials specifications.
Review and interpret engineering sketches, diagrams, and technical documentation to develop design layouts and configurations.
Conduct design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize designs for performance, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
Generate bill of materials (BOM) and assist in sourcing components and materials for prototypes and production runs.
Support prototype builds and testing activities, including providing technical drawings and documentation to manufacturing teams.
Maintain organized file management and documentation practices to ensure version control and traceability of design changes.
Assist in troubleshooting design issues and recommending solutions to improve product functionality and performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a SolidWorks Drafter or Designer in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Proficiency in SolidWorks software, including creating complex 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Knowledge of other CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and experience with PDM/PLM systems is a plus.
SolidWorks certification (e.g., CSWA, CSWP) preferred but not required.
