Overview: We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain our SQL database systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of SQL databases, as well as implementing improvements and optimizations. This role requires strong technical skills, a deep understanding of database management, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain SQL database servers and processes, including monitoring system health and performance to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
Performance Tuning: Analyze and optimize SQL queries and database performance. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and implement best practices for database management.
Backup and Recovery: Develop, implement, and manage backup and recovery strategies. Ensure data integrity and availability by performing regular backups and conducting recovery drills.
Security: Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability assessments. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and policies.
Database Design: Collaborate with developers and architects to design and implement database schemas, indexes, and partitions. Ensure database designs meet application performance and scalability requirements.
Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor database systems for performance issues, capacity, and potential problems. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as updates, patches, and upgrades.
Data Migration: Plan and execute data migration projects, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes. Ensure data consistency and minimal downtime during migrations.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including connectivity, performance, and security problems. Provide technical support and guidance to development and IT teams.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
Continuous Improvement: Stay current with the latest SQL database technologies and trends. Identify opportunities for improvement and implement best practices to enhance database performance and reliability.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
5+ years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator.
Strong proficiency in SQL and SQL Server, including T-SQL scripting.
Experience with SQL Server tools (e.g., SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Profiler).
Knowledge of database design, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
Familiarity with backup and recovery strategies and tools.
Understanding of database security best practices.
Experience with ETL processes and data migration projects.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate) are a plus.
