Overview: We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Traveling AV Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining audio-visual (AV) equipment for events, meetings, and conferences across various locations. This role requires frequent travel, a strong technical background, and excellent problem-solving skills to ensure seamless AV operations in diverse environments.
Responsibilities:
AV Installation & Setup:
Install, configure, and test AV equipment, including projectors, sound systems, video conferencing systems, and lighting, at various event locations.
Set up and dismantle AV systems for events, ensuring all components are functioning correctly.
Collaborate with event coordinators and clients to understand specific AV requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
Technical Support:
Provide on-site technical support during events to address any AV issues that arise, ensuring minimal disruption.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to AV equipment, network connections, and software.
Offer real-time assistance to presenters and speakers with AV equipment, ensuring smooth operation.
Equipment Maintenance & Inventory:
Perform routine maintenance and updates on AV equipment to ensure it is in optimal working condition.
Track and manage inventory of AV equipment, ensuring all items are accounted for and in good condition.
Coordinate repairs or replacements for damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
Client & Vendor Communication:
Communicate effectively with clients to understand their AV needs and provide recommendations for equipment and setup.
Liaise with vendors to arrange the rental or purchase of additional AV equipment when necessary.
Provide training to clients or event staff on the proper use of AV systems.
Documentation & Reporting:
Document AV setups and configurations for each event, creating a reference for future use.
Prepare reports on AV performance, including any issues encountered and how they were resolved.
Maintain accurate records of travel expenses, equipment usage, and time spent on each project.
Travel & Logistics:
Travel frequently to various event locations, both domestically and potentially internationally, as required by the job.
Coordinate travel and accommodation logistics in collaboration with the events team.
Ensure timely arrival at event sites and manage time effectively to meet tight schedules.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or certification in AV technology, electronics, or a related field is preferred.
2+ years of experience in AV installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Strong technical knowledge of AV equipment, including sound systems, projectors, video conferencing, and lighting.
Proficiency in troubleshooting AV issues and providing quick, effective solutions.
Ability to lift and transport heavy equipment and work in various physical environments.
Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.
Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including overnight stays and potentially weekends.
