£50,000 - £70,000 a year
Location: London (Oval), United Kingdom
Type: Full-time
Salary: £50,000- £70,000 OTE

About Us
Zen is revolutionising education. Schools spend over £2bn a year on agency staff, and £600m of that goes straight into the pockets of recruitment agencies. That’s why we’ve built an alternative.
Our online platform gives schools instant access to hundreds of profiles of fully vetted teachers and support staff. Since launching in 2017, we’ve saved schools over £20m – money that goes straight back into school budgets and increases teachers’ pay.
Now, we’re expanding our offering to include a world-class SaaS (Software-as-Service) product range to solve other critical challenges faced by school leaders and their communities.

The Opportunity
This is your chance to join a tech startup in hypergrowth. We’re passionate about professional development, and we’ll work to maximise your personal and career growth.
We're looking for enthusiastic, mission-driven people who fit our values and are passionate about what we do. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't exactly match the job description.
This is a new business sales role, where you’ll be generating and closing opportunities with multi-academy trusts and schools, supporting our commercial goals and the value we deliver for the education community.
What you’ll be doing
Lead Sales Initiatives: Generate and close sales opportunities for our new SaaS solutions with multi-academy trusts (MATs) and schools, driving revenue and expanding our market presence.
Align with Commercial Goals: Collaborate with sales, product, and marketing teams to identify and capitalize on opportunities that align with our business objectives.
Pipeline Management: Accurately forecast and report pipeline and revenue metrics, ensuring transparency and alignment with company goals.
Ownership of New Business: Take charge of sourcing and managing leads from initial contact through to successful closure.

What We're Looking For
Are you a driven sales professional looking to make a real impact? We’re seeking individuals who bring passion, a track record of success, and the drive to push boundaries. Here’s what we value:

Must-Have Experience:
Recent Sales Experience: You’ve thrived in an individual contributor role focused on net new sales within the last two years.
Proven Success: Your history of high achievement and consistently surpassing performance metrics speaks for itself.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

-Industry Expertise: Experience selling software to multi-academy trusts is a significant advantage.
-Start-Up Experience: Proven success in a start-up environment, particularly when competing against established market players.
-Career Progression: Demonstrated ability to advance in sales roles, showing a clear trajectory of growth.
-Exceptional Communication: Strong ability to convey value propositions and engage effectively with C-Level decision-makers.
-Creative Problem-Solving: Skilled in diagnosing challenges and developing innovative solutions, particularly in sales contexts.
-Resilience and Adaptability: Thrives in dynamic environments, quickly adapting to change and overcoming setbacks.
-Self-Motivation: A proactive self-starter with a passion for the education sector, requiring minimal supervision.
-Curiosity and Agility: Quick to learn and eager to explore new concepts and problem-solving opportunities.
-Results-Driven: Ambitious, consistently delivering exceptional value throughout the sales process.
-Tech-Savvy with Business Acumen: Enthusiastic about new tools and adept at aligning opportunities with broader business goals.

Diversity and Inclusion
At Zen, we strive to build a culture of equity and inclusion, where everyone is respected, valued, and appreciated for their unique traits, experiences, and perspectives. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment where our team can thrive, regardless of age, ethnicity, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, disability, religion, or beliefs.
We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and different experiences and perspectives — just like the staff who teach through Zen and the children at the schools we work with. We believe in hiring the best people from the widest pool and creating an inclusive culture where people’s voices are heard and all our team can look forward to coming to work.
We are committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of our community and promoting an equitable and inclusive environment for all. We seek out diverse opinions, beliefs, and experiences because they collectively make us stronger; we’ve had former teachers, pilots, fundraisers, engineers, lawyers, marketers, social media experts, and more join our team.
