Position Summary: 

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Federal Health/Science Instructional Designer to join our training and development team. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and developing instructional materials for federal health and science organizations. This role involves creating engaging and effective learning experiences that enhance knowledge and skills in the health and science fields. This is a 6 month contract to hire, Public Trust preferred.

Responsibilities:

    • Instructional Design and Development:
    • Design and develop high-quality instructional materials, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training, job aids, and other educational resources.
    • Utilize instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
    • Develop course content that meets the specific needs of federal health and science organizations.
    • Content Creation and Curation:
    • Conduct needs assessments to identify training gaps and learning objectives.
    • Create and curate content that is accurate, up-to-date, and relevant to the target audience.
    • Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information and ensure content accuracy.
    • E-Learning Development:
    • Use e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) to develop interactive and engaging online training modules.
    • Incorporate multimedia elements such as graphics, animations, videos, and simulations to enhance learning.
    • Ensure e-learning content is SCORM-compliant and compatible with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
    • Project Management:
    • Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
    • Develop project plans, timelines, and milestones, and track progress against these plans.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure project goals are met.
    • Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Develop assessment tools to measure learning outcomes and the effectiveness of instructional materials.
    • Analyze evaluation data to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for future training initiatives.
    • Implement feedback mechanisms to continuously improve instructional design processes and materials.
    • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with SMEs, trainers, and other stakeholders to ensure training materials align with organizational goals and standards.
    • Facilitate train-the-trainer sessions and provide support to trainers delivering the content.
    • Communicate project status, updates, and any issues to the Director of Training and Development.
    • Compliance and Standards:
    • Ensure all instructional materials comply with federal health and science guidelines and standards.
    • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in instructional design and e-learning.
    • Incorporate accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508) into all instructional materials.
