Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Project Controls Analyst with experience working on federal government contracts to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, project controls, and cost management, specifically in a government contracting environment. This role is responsible for supporting the financial performance of projects by ensuring accurate cost reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance with federal regulations.
Responsibilities:
Cost Management & Analysis: Monitor project budgets, costs, and expenditures to ensure alignment with the approved financial plan. Track project expenses and provide financial insights and analysis to project managers and leadership.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and deliver accurate financial reports, including cost-to-complete, earned value, and variance analysis, in accordance with government regulations and contract requirements. Provide regular updates on project financial performance to internal and external stakeholders.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Support project teams in the development and maintenance of project budgets and forecasts. Ensure that financial data is up-to-date and accurately reflects project progress and any potential risks.
Government Contract Compliance: Ensure all financial and cost reporting is compliant with federal government contracting standards, including FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations), DFARS, and other applicable guidelines. Provide support during internal and external audits.
Variance Analysis: Analyze budget variances and identify cost overruns or savings. Provide recommendations to management on potential adjustments to project plans or budgets based on financial performance.
Risk Management: Work with project teams to identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies. Provide financial assessments on the impact of potential changes to project scope, schedule, or cost.
Contract Management Support: Assist in the financial management of government contracts, including monitoring funding levels, managing contract modifications, and ensuring that all financial obligations are met.
Project Controls: Develop and maintain project control systems and processes to track project performance metrics, including costs, schedules, and resource allocations. Ensure data integrity and consistency in reporting.
Billing and Invoicing Support: Work with accounting teams to ensure that all project-related billing, invoicing, and revenue recognition processes are accurate and timely. Ensure that invoicing complies with contract terms and federal regulations.
Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, accounting teams, and government clients to ensure alignment of financial data and project objectives. Serve as the primary financial point of contact for project teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in financial analysis, project controls, or cost management, preferably in a federal government contracting environment.
Strong understanding of federal regulations, including FAR, DFARS, and cost accounting standards (CAS).
Experience with earned value management (EVM) and other project control methodologies.
Proficiency in financial management software and tools (e.g., Deltek, SAP, Oracle, MS Excel).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong working relationships with government clients and internal teams.
$40 - $50 an hour
