As the Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering the desired customer service experience. The goal is to drive service success that improves customer satisfaction, maximizes customer retention and increases profitability.
This position is location specific – any change of address located outside of your assigned territory will require approval in advance.
What you will accomplish together with us:
- On a daily basis you will perform installation, commissioning, calibration, preventative maintenance and break fix repairs across a range of systems.
- You will be responsible for maintaining fault finding data, and feedback of product performance data to customers and internal groups within Sartorius.
- You will acquire in-depth product knowledge and demonstrate self-improvement.
- On an as needed basis, you will follow service procedures to ensure customer equipment is properly maintained.
- One of your tasks will be to keep accurate records of time, expenses and work performed.
- Make independent decisions regarding the repair of field equipment based on service level agreements and customers support contract agreements/details.
- You will collaborate with teams to escalate system issues that cannot be resolved to the relevant Technical Support Group.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to approximately 90%. Travel primarily within the assigned territory but occasionally outside
- LIFTING - Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently to lift and move objects.
- You will service company equipment for customers, including installations, preventative maintenance, repairs and training. Generate service revenue for the company by advancing leads of customers interested in service contracts. Interact with customers directly to schedule appointments, provide quotations, order parts, and complete repair services as appropriate. Provide excellent customer service at every step.
- Your duties will include evaluating the customer’s service need, including a technical evaluation of the equipment that needs servicing; researching and interpreting the specifications to effectively troubleshoot and determine an appropriate solution; coordinating with the customer and other internal personnel to complete the service.
- You will maintain complete, timely documentation, including field service reports, customer surveys, installation reports, daily progress reports, expense reports and others as defined by management.
- You will communicate effectively and in a timely manner with management, coworkers, and customers, including responding by email, phone and in person as needed. Manage communications effectively and timely. Maintain an updated schedule, and pro-actively communicate to management when schedule is free of appointments.
- On an as needed basis, you will properly manage company parts, equipment and tools. Keep an accurate inventory, and care properly for equipment and tools.
- Perform other related duties as required.
What Will Convince Us:
- You have completed an associate degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent military or trade school certificates in electronics/electrical technology required.
- You have formal training in mechanical/electrical hardware set-up and configuration. Field or building services engineering experience would be considered in lieu of a formal qualification.
- You have a minimum of 2+ years’ experience of working in a commissioning/test or field service/support environment within high-tech engineering/manufacturing company – ideally on capital equipment.
- Required valid Driver's License and passport or the ability to obtain one.
- You have the ability travel within your territory to support Field Service activities.
- Experience of electrical, mechanical & I/O fault-finding at system and component level required.
- Experience with automation and or robotics is required.
- Understanding of automatic mechanisms and their associated electrical control systems is required.
- Experience with and be competent in measuring AC/DC voltages required.
- A good understanding of mechanical/electrical drawings.
- Calibration of control systems, e.g. temperature, gas flow, RPM, weight, pressure, pH and DO desired.
- Hands on experience with robotics, motors, conveyor systems, input/output modules, optical readers, pneumatics and electromechanical assemblies required.
- Good understanding of mechanical and electrical schematics
- Installation of software and firmware updates/testing
- You are proficient with MS Office software, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Experience of configuring PCs and installing software packages (Windows OS)
