Requirements

  • MS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 7 years’ experience or PhD with 5 years’ experience.
  • In-depth experience developing GPU applications using CUDA, HIP or OpenCL.
  • Deep experience with development tooling such as Git, Visual Studio, Eclipse, gcc/g++ and clang on both Windows and Linux.
  • Strong technical knowledge and commercial experience with C/C++ and Python.

Summary / Role Purpose

As a Principal R&D Engineer in the Ansys CFD business you will be responsible for design, development, and maintenance of our GPU solver capability as part of our multi-physics simulation and platform team. You will be required to work with the solver physics teams to design and implement architecture that facilitates critical feature development in the areas partitioning, solver meshing algorithms, discretization, solution algorithms, linear solvers and post processing.  In addition, ensuring that the solver architecture is deployable on cloud hardware and is efficiently integrated for use with the Ansys CFD user environment on both desktop and cloud will be a key part of this role.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Employ best practices and help to maintain them through technical reviews and mentoring.  Support the wider team with assessing how to approach solving technical implementation details.
  • Develop, debug, and proactively refactor a mixed language code base including Python and C/C++ on both Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Provide mentoring of junior developers and get involved directly in the planning and prioritization of features.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • MS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 7 years’ experience or PhD with 5 years’ experience

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Familiarity with, or willing to learn about, a variety of new areas including, AI/ML, physcal modelling and solution methods.
  • Passionate about crafting robust and efficient code and experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial software development environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work collaboratively and effectively communicate in a geogaphically distributed team.
  • Motivated to lead teams, directly or virtual, to find solutions to customer problems.
